Sears Recognized for Best-in-Class Mobile Excellence by Acquity Group
Focusing on helping customers manage their busy lives, Sears identified as one of the top leaders in mobile development
Sears Holdings (NASDAQ: SHLD) is proud to announce that we have been named by Acquity Group as "Overall Best-in-Class" for our mobile efforts as well as "Best-in-Class" for the mass merchant industry.
This ranking was reported in Acquity Group's second annual Mobile Commerce Audit 2010, which identifies companies and industries that are leading the charge with mobile initiatives. The audit considered all companies listed on the Internet Retailer 500 and looked at metrics across 18 different categories, including device detection across five browsers (iPhone OS, Android OS, BlackBerry OS, Palm webOS and Windows CE) and mobile applications for catalog and checkout functionality.
"Ranked seventh in the 2009 Internet Retailer 500 list, Sears has once again proven themselves adept at leveraging the mobile channel and is, for the second year in a row, ranked in the top ten of retailers for mobile commerce according to Acquity Group's Mobile Audit," says Tom Nawara, Acquity group vice president of Digital Strategy & Design. "Sears Holdings' implementation of optimized sites across multiple mobile OS platform/browsers, mobile apps for both iPhone and Android, and m-commerce checkout put them at #6 in this year's assessment."
Sears.com continues to empower customers with easy-to-use applications that allow them to shop from anywhere, at anytime. Whether customers need to find a nearby store, create personal shopping lists or have an item ready for pick up while out running errands, Sears offers a variety of mobile shopping options, such as: Sears2go, Kmart2go, Sears Personal Shopper, Manage My Life and mygofer2go.
"We've listened to our customers and have responded by enhancing our mobile offerings to reflect their ever-evolving shopping needs," said Imran Jooma, president of E-Commerce at Sears Holdings. "We understand that our customers lead busy lives, which is why we are excited to present mobile applications that provide shopping solutions and offer convenience and choice. Whether mom has an iPhone or her son has an Android device, we've built the applications that allow everyone in the family to shop their way."
These mobile offerings are part of the Shop Your Way™ multi-channel shopping choices for customers and further evidence of Sears' best-in-class mobile commerce platform.
