Kmart and 'Fun Ambassador' Rico Rodriguez Announce America's Top Toy for the Holiday Season
Americans Voted the VTech V.Reader as Their Favorite Among Kmart's Fab 15
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Dec. 17, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Kmart announced America's favorite pick from Kmart's second annual Fab 15 toy list. Voters chose the VTech V.Reader, an animated reading system that showcases stories with narration, character voices, vivid graphics and exciting music and sounds, as their favorite.
The full Kmart Fab 15 list was unveiled in September by the retailer's official "Fun Ambassador," Rico Rodriguez, who plays Manny on ABC's Emmy-winning sitcom "Modern Family." Rodriguez revealed Kmart's Fab 15 toys in an event live from New York City's Times Square and encouraged families to visit the Fab 15 website (www.kmart.com/fab15) and vote for their kids' favorite toy.
From the program launch on Sept. 24 through Nov. 28, families that voted were entered to win the grand prize - a full set of the Fab 15. Additionally, each day, one voter was selected to receive a toy from the list.
"I had so much fun investigating the coolest toys out there for the Kmart Fab 15 list," said Rodriguez. "America voted a really cool toy as their favorite. The VTech V.Reader is a great way to hear stories and learn to read! I'm sure a lot of kids will be excited to unwrap the V.Reader this year."
The Fab 15 list includes some of the hottest toys of the season, including top brands like Hasbro and Mattel, as well as popular characters that kids know and love like Barbie, Mickey and more. Because this year's Fab 15 list is designed with kids in mind, it contains all of the toys that they really want--like Nerf Stampede and the Tonka Ricochet R/C.
"We're so happy that America took to their computers to help choose the VTech V.Reader as their favorite toy from our Fab 15 list," said Dev Mukherjee, president of Seasonal, Toys and Home Appliances for Sears Holdings. "It was so much fun working with Rico to develop this year's list of awesome toys that Kmart can offer to families at a great price."
Earlier this year, Rodriguez conducted a behind-the-scenes investigation to determine which toys kids would be asking for this holiday season. His reporting mission was documented in webisodes that are featured on www.kmart.com/fab15. In his final report, Rodriguez hosted a live "news broadcast" in Times Square to reveal his findings and unveil the official Fab 15 list.
Customers can shop for any of the items on the Fab 15 list at local Kmart stores nationwide or online anytime at www.kmart.com. Toys featured on the Kmart Fab 15 list range from $14.99 to $79.99.
