Tibbett & Britten Group to Take Over Warehousing Operations At Two Kmart Distribution Centers

Kmart Corporation (NYSE: KM) and Tibbett & Britten Group North America today announced that Advance Logistics, a New Jersey-based member company of Tibbett & Britten, has acquired, and will operate, the warehousing operations at the retailer's Greensboro, N.C. and Morrisville, Penn. distribution centers, effective February 1, 2001.

"Enhancing the merchandise flow of our distribution centers is key to improving our retail execution to better service our stores and our customers," said Tony D'Onofrio, Kmart Executive Vice President, Chief Supply Chain Officer. "Tibbett & Britten has a proven track record in assisting retailers to achieve dramatic quality improvements and operational efficiencies, improving logistics methods and operational initiatives. Outsourcing the warehousing and distribution functions of these two centers to a world-class third party provider will allow Kmart to move toward a 'best in class' supply chain model."

Under the agreement, Advance Logistics will become responsible for the operation of the Greensboro and Morrisville centers. All management and warehouse associates who work in the two centers will become employees of Advance Logistics.
