Kmart.com is Ranked Top Site in 'Best and Worst of Site Design 2005'
Kmart eCommerce site ranks best of twenty in new independent research firm report
Kmart Holding Corporation (NASDAQ: KMRT) today announced that kmart.com ranked at the top of the annual site design report from independent technology research firm Forrester, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Kmart site ranked highest among those reviewed and was the only site to earn a passing grade.
"We are thrilled to see kmart.com on top of the Forrester report," said Karen Leever, divisional vice president of eCommerce for Kmart. "Since the site's re-launch, we have been exceptionally pleased with its performance and the Forrester report is a true validation of the redesign's success."
The Forrester "Best and Worst of Site Design 2005" report was released March 11 and evaluated the customer experience of 20 major web sites, five each in the automotive, media, travel and retail industries. Forrester analysts measured site value, navigation, presentation and trust to complete the analysis. Kmart led all sites overall, and the retail sites in general outperformed all other categories.
When the site was re-launched in November, Karen Austin, Chief Information Officer for Kmart said, "The reinvented kmart.com site offers customers the ability to simply shop online for their favorite Kmart brands."
Designed to give customers greater flexibility and control over the shopping experience, kmart.com logically groups items for ease-of-shopping. The Forrester report evaluated item classification, and named kmart.com as a standout example.
"Kmart.com strives to provide a superior shopping experience for our customers," said Leever. "Being tops on the Forrester list is an impressive achievement and we will continue to make improvements to stay on top of the customer experience list."
Kmart.com was designed and built by Fry, Inc. in collaboration with the eCommerce team at Kmart. The full Forrester report is available to view at http://www.fry.com/solutions/creative.asp .
