Sears Reveals America's Top Holiday Gifts

Sears Combines Individual Wishes to Create America's Top Wish List, Capturing This Season's Most Sought After Items

Sears asked Americans what they are wishing for this holiday season and their answers might surprise you. Compiling responses through an online survey, Sears' 'What America is Wishing For' campaign will reveal for the first time the most desired holiday gifts this season, as well as some interesting facts.

Americans can join the fun online at Sears.com, and share what's at the top of their holiday wish list. The ever-changing wish lists take the guesswork out of gift giving by showcasing the most sought after gifts in one easy to navigate location. Sears lists -- ranging from wishes from moms, dads, kids and members of the military -- will continue to evolve everyday with each wish submitted. The wish lists will be featured both on Sears.com and Sears' Good News Now network on Yahoo! News.

In the first week of 'What America is Wishing For,' America's Top Wishes include:

  -- Digital Camera
  -- Diamond Ring
  -- Wii Game
  -- LeapFrog LeapPad
  -- Diamond Earrings
  -- Cell Phone
  -- Diamond Pendant


"Embracing the magic and power of wishes has been a long-standing tradition at Sears. We want to reveal America's wishes this holiday so that gift givers everywhere can not just give a gift, but rather experience the appreciation and magnitude of fulfilling a wish," said Don Hamblen, Sears' chief marketing officer. "All gifts on the wish lists can be found in-store at Sears or online at Sears.com. If you're just finishing up your holiday buying or are just getting started, there are great, affordable gifts at Sears."

In compiling wishes, Sears found that men are two times more likely than women to want electronics and computing gifts. This week's wish for men includes:

  -- Video Game System
  -- Outerwear
  -- Jeans
  -- Shirts
  -- Watches


Women tend towards gifts with a bit of dazzle or fragrance. In fact, women are 30 times more likely than men to ask for a fragrance. This week's wish for women includes:

  -- Diamond earrings
  -- Diamond pendants/necklaces
  -- Gemstone pendants/necklaces
  -- Fragrances
  -- Handbag/purse
  -- Gold necklaces
  -- Activewear
  -- Bath & Body Gift Set
  -- For the Home


Consumers can join in the spirit for 'What America is Wishing For' and select and submit top items from their holiday wish list on the holiday section at Sears.com.

In addition, to capturing what America is wishing for, Sears is spreading good news for the holidays through its recently launched Good News Now on Yahoo! News. Good News Now is filled with uplifting stories, a spotlight on military families through Heroes at Homeā„¢, as well as opportunities to sign up for inspirational e-mails and special offers from Sears. It is powered by Yahoo! http://spotlight.news.yahoo.com/ and includes features to get visitors thinking about what they are wishing for this holiday season.

This holiday season, Sears also created the Heroes at Home Wish Registry to help make the wishes of members of the military come true for the holidays and enable Americans to provide a direct 'thank you' to them through a donation. This fall, more than 30,000 active military members registered to participate in the Wish Registry at Sears.com. Americans, who choose to donate to the Wish Registry, can do so in-store or at Sears.com through Dec. 24. Upon making a donation, consumers can include a note to the families and wish them happy holidays. Donations to the Wish Registry are not tax deductible and will be used to purchase Sears' gift cards which will be distributed equally to registered families.
