Sears Names Experienced Retailer to Lead The Great Indoors

Sears, Roebuck and Co. (NYSE: S) has named Catherine David to the post of vice president and general manager of The Great Indoors. She will be responsible for merchandising, marketing and operations. David replaces Jeff Jones, who was promoted to executive vice president of merchandising operations for Sears in April of 2004.

David has held senior leadership roles at Target Corporation, where her responsibilities during her 12-year tenure included oversight of the customer direct business, merchandise planning, buying and marketing. Most recently, she served as president of Newell-Rubbermaid's Burnes Group, the world's largest supplier of photo frames and related products.

David will report to Beryl Buley, Sears' senior vice president and general merchandise manager of home stores.

"Catherine is a proven leader and her drive and experience will be invaluable in leading The Great Indoors at this important stage," Buley said.

In August of 2003, The Great Indoors announced a refinement of its business strategy to establish a profitable operating model built on the stores' exceptional customer appeal.
